Nils Olav Bøe (b.1958) Leirvik in Sogn
Educated at the Norwegian Academy of Fine Arts in Oslo and the Norwegian Academy of Fine Arts in Bergen.
Bøe has a number of exhibitions, including in Berlin, New York, Rio de Janeiro, London, Houston, Reykjavik, Stockholm and Oslo.
In 2013 he participated in the exhibition “international discoveries”, Photo Biennial Houston, USA. Norwegian Sculpture Biennale, Vigeland Museum, Oslo. 2015/16.
In selection, purchased by the Museum for contemporary art, Oslo,
Gothenburg’s art museum, as well as national and international collectors.
“Bøe builds up small-scale miniature landscapes/scenes in his studio, which he lights and photographs with precision. The lighting of the tableaus and their final photograph is an important scenographic move. The result is strikingly ambiguous images, where the subjects of the tableaus are transformed into an almost higher unity through representation in the photographic medium from three-dimensional to two-dimensional form.
