“Her practice is interesting. Basically, her work is abstract, but it nevertheless deals with problems of representation. The way the work navigates the relationship between form and representation is why it is compelling. Usually, abstraction presumes a privileged space over representation, normally arguing that abstraction is the universal language that goes beyond the local or cultural interests that constitute representation, or that abstraction is the rhetorical language that gives objects and things its subjective importance. Anne, in fact, presents the idea of the experience of the object rather than its existential reality. Rather than embracing the hierarchy of form over meaning, Anne’s work problematizes the relationship. This is accomplished by advancing the conditions that allow us to experience objects in the works themselves, hence, context, a core function in representation, remains forefront.”
