In my work, I only work with painting.
My projects often span over longer periods of time and the subject circles alternate between self-perceived private photographs and older photographic material from different eras.
With the photograph, marked with a grid over it, I make painterly interpretations of the photograph’s visual information on white PVC.
How the pictures are painted and how to work with reproducing a motif, are central themes. I use both traditional painting techniques and improvisation when I paint. The works are not narratives and the motifs are chosen intuitively and quite randomly. Light renderings, composition, human expressions, random moment images, moods, shape and colour distribution in the picture, are factors that influence the choice of motif.
