My artistic practice gravitates towards architectural spaces and installations that envelop the viewer. I aim to create spaces that engage the senses through the careful composition and placement of large ceramic sculptures. I am drawn to the subconscious and work with metaphors and symbolism to explore the intersection of dreams and reality.

I define my work within the contemporary art field while remaining rooted in a distinct sculptural tradition with references to architecture and craft.

Clay is a material with infinite potential. It can be alive, raw, and transformative, or hard, rigid, and enduring. It can contain, support, or erode when exposed to water. As I work, I immortalize movements into a malleable material that later becomes solid.

Sculpture, installation, ceramic.

Overview of an installation consisting of four large ceramic sculptures. The sculptures have a rough surface and are unglazed. Each sculpture shares the same color, reminiscent of beige sand. The installation is arranged to guide you from one sculpture to the next, somewhat like a church aisle, with a highly symmetrical layout.

You first move through two identical sculptures that evoke the feeling of passing through a portal. Next, you encounter a rectangular basin that reaches hip height. This basin is filled with water. Finally, you arrive at the last sculpture, which resembles a tower in a castle. At the center of the tower is a chamber that extends inward. This chamber is glazed with a smooth, transparent glaze, resembling the water surface in the earlier basin-like sculpture. The entire installation is illuminated with warm light, evoking the ambiance of sunlight.

Glazed stoneware sculpture coated with platinum luster. The sculpture is rectangular and composed of multiple rectangles that appear to be stacked on top of each other. Each rectangle features ornaments, with a flower-like formation at the center of each ornament. The top of the sculpture consists of a surface with a hole. Through this hole, you can see down into yet another hole.

The image is an overview of a ceramic installation. The installation consists of multiple components arranged into different groups. The entire installation depicts a water lily and its root system.

One group features a white water lily combined with various lily pads in shades of green. The other group is a larger sculpture inspired by the root system of water lilies. This sculpture is composed of numerous ceramic tubes intertwined to form a large knot. Smaller tubes extend from this knot, connected to the sculpture with transparent plastic hoses. All the pieces are made of glazed stoneware.

In the image, you see five large ceramic vessels filled with water. Each vessel is 112 cm tall and glazed with a glossy finish. Every vessel has a distinct color, all in earthy tones such as green, ochre, and brown. The glaze displays rich variations and depth.

To enter the installation, you had to descend a staircase. The floor was made of concrete with blue dots arranged in symmetrical patterns. The installation also featured lighting programmed to gradually turn on and off, along with a looping soundscape. The room had a damp smell, evoking the sensation of being in a dark and unsettling basement.

In my studio

In my studio, you’ll get a unique insight into my artistic process. I will share how larger works take shape, from the initial sketches to the finished pieces. You will also see ongoing projects and have the opportunity to view material and glaze samples as part of the development process.

My larger ceramic works are too big for the studio and are stored elsewhere, so here in the workshop, I will show other pieces that fit the space, along with photos of the larger projects.

There will also be an opportunity to enjoy a cup of coffee and some fruit.

Feel free to ask questions if there’s anything you’re curious about. I’m looking forward to your visit!

Planned projects and exhibitions

I will be exhibiting at Format Oslo in September 2026.
