About the project:
Monu(mo)ments is an artistic concept and project in Oslo, Norway. The idea was developed as part of Eliot Moleba’s artistic PhD research project, Alternative Histori[es]: A Place Where Something Happened, which is dedicated to making commemorative ‘monuments’ based on stories of ordinary Norwegians with ‘immigration or/and multicultural backgrounds’, focusing on an event that happened in a public space and experienced as a life-changing moment. To commemorate the narrated event, each story is turned into a ‘monu(mo)ment’ that is installed at the site where it took place. By manifesting their stories, a part of their lived experiences is physically or emotionally inscribed on and through the landscape.
The Monu(mo)ments Series is currently comprised of three interactive, performative works of public art – “In Her Shoes”, “Kjersti’s Line”, and “Rico On The Run (2.0)”.

In my studio
For this occasion, we will use one of the monu(mo)ments, Rico on the Run (2.0), as our studio and meeting point. We will offer you tea/coffee and a chance to encounter the stories and memories Rico holds of the experiences of the narrator and those who have travelled with him around Norway. We will also tell you more about the whole project and other monu(mo)ments.
After meeting Rico, visitors will also be encouraged to walk to another nearby monu(mo)ments, Kjersti’s Line, which is less than 500m away.
The series is curated by Eliot Moleba and produced by Transcultural Arts Production, 2024. Funded with support from KORO’s Art Programme For Local Communities (LOK).
