In my work, I often explore emotions and states of mind. Being human – how we feel within ourselves as individuals and in relation to others. Visually, I strive to balance dualities such as humor and sadness, strength and vulnerability.

I draw much of my inspiration from human nature and body language, using this as a starting point for more abstract and stylized forms. My works are often intuitive and spontaneous reflections and reactions to things happening both in my immediate, small world and how we are affected by events in the global community at large.

The tactile qualities of clay are important to me. Finding the right interplay with the clay is a central part of my work process, and how the sculptures feel against the hand is crucial for the overall experience of the finished sculptures. I am driven by a search for tranquility in working with clay, and I hope this is also represented in much of my work.

I model and hand-build in stoneware clay, and all the sculptures in the various series are unique.
