Project description: “Toys in layers – from sculpture to monotype”
Over an extended period, I have collected discarded toys and broken parts, which I have reconstructed into sculptures. These sculptures have functioned as visual elements in animations for various music videos.
In my current project, I have transferred these three-dimensional works into a two-dimensional expression using monotype – a printing technique that gives a unique impression, often with a photographic feeling where light and shadow are reversed. Each monotype is an original print and only exists in one copy.
My work focuses on composition and interaction between the different toy parts. By placing them in new constellations, I create images where the objects take on a new dimension in relation to each other. When the motifs are printed in layers, a transparent effect occurs that adds depth and complexity to the final expression.
This project explores the transformation from everyday objects to artistic expressions and examines how sculptural elements can be translated into graphic forms through the unique properties of monotype.
