Ragnhild Nes

(She/her)
Address: Med Lars Gangdal, Østerdalsgata 1 , 0658 Oslo
Floor: 5
The studio is open Saturday 26 April from 12-17

Ragnhild Nes (b. 1993) is an Oslo-based visual artist primarily working with painting. Her practice is characterized by a searching and intuitive approach to art, influenced by the Cobra movement, among others. She continuously works with painting in conjunction with sculpture, text, and space. Poetry and text serve as tools written directly onto the canvas, guiding the development of composition and palette. Nes explores the inner and outer landscapes of humanity, where the abstract and concrete meet. Her work has been exhibited both nationally and internationally, and she has held artist residencies in Portugal, Italy, and Denmark.

In my studio

My studio functions as an exploratory space, where the process is key to discovering new ways of developing art, with sketches in painting, sculpture, text, and drawing.

I share the studio with Lars Gangdal, and together we will be presenting a larger work at Atelie.art in connection with Oslo Open. This piece will be created during our duo residency in Lisbon at Duplex AIR, in February 2025.

Planned projects and exhibitions

Solo exhibition at Galleri KÖSK, April 2024.

PADA Studios, Barreiro, Portugal, May 2025.

Duo exhibition with Lisette Van Hoogenhuyze (NL), September 2025 at Galleri Duer. Developed between Oslo / Lisbon.

The Edvard Munch Foundation Atelier – September and October 2025.
