Floor: 1
Room number: 112
The studio is open Sunday 28 April from 12-17
Elin works with ceramics and visual arts. She has a background as a ceramicist with a diploma from SHKS, and as a graphic designer with an MA from KhiO. She is a member of Norwegian Artists (NBK) and Norwegian Craftsmen (NK).
Elin works with ceramics, calligraphy, collage, photography and installations. She participates in or has her own exhibitions annually. The feminist installation work “Prosject Subject” has been shown in several places in Norway and in England, and is featured in Aftenposten, Dagbladet and Dagens Næringsliv’s magazine D2.
Through Elin’s artistry is a fascination for and use of signs. It can be in the form of calligraphic works, collages based on demolished posters, or photographs of grapitti on street walls. She is looking for subtle narratives lying beneath the surface, and writing and letters serves as important conceptual foundations. In addition to the written word, in the form of poems, myths and stories, she is concerned with the associations letters or words evoke. Elin is also interested in the process of writing in itself, and that calligraphy and compositions, inspired by handwriting, can tell stories in abstract form. Now that handwriting is disappearing from culture, this is seen as increasingly relevant.
