I take much of my inspiration from human nature and body language and use this as a starting point for more abstracted and stylized forms. I often want to convey a feeling that you can recognize as an individual or in interaction with others.
My works are often intuitive and spontaneous reflections and reactions to things that happen in my small, everyday existence. I also work over time with themes that occupy me, set in a larger context. Regardless of the theme, clay’s tactile properties are important to me, both during the work process and in the viewer’s perception of the finished pieces of work. I model and hand build in stoneware clay. All the sculptures in the various series are unique.
