26—27 April

Solveig Ane Kirkaune Øksendal

(She/her)
Address: Prindsen atelierfellesskap, Storgata 36B, 0182 Oslo
Floor: 3
The studio is open Sunday 28 April from 12-17

I mainly work with figurative drawing, watercolor and recently textiles. Via the female gaze and feminist tradition, I work with the body, gender and sexuality, and the psychology that can be found there, as a thematic starting point. Black humor and references to both art history and popular culture are tools I consciously make use of. With references, I want to show recognition to the long tradition I work in and under, and try to draw new lines between what is happening and what has happened. Humor serves as an entrance to vulnerable topics. What Julia Kristeva refers to as the abject, as something that is between subject and object and that points back to man’s own materiality (or a reminder of death if you like), that has both attractive and repulsive qualities is also important in my work.

In my studio

I work on several things at the same time and by visiting me you will be able to see both work under construction and finished framed works in storage.
I also sell postcards via vipps, and usually have good Oslo Open prices for works of art that you can buy and take with you when you visit. In any case, it’s a lot of weird things to look at, and I’m happy to answer questions if there are any. Here there are also a bunch of other artists to visit in the same vein, as we are a studio community with 12 artists in it.
