Jamie Andrew Oldham (b.1987) is a British artist based in Oslo. Working with painting, drawing and sculpture – his work is an emotional response to everyday life, but also introduces past memories of my much younger self, who was complicit to the nasty end of Britain’s geo-political endeavours (British Army 2005-2015).

Thinking through the materiality of paint, he is interested in first and foremost the encounter of representation, and how paints’ artificiality falls short in this encounter. Jamie relies on the confusion of image making, finding mistaken old forms enveloped in a new mystery. The picture plane becomes unintentionally diagrammatic, revealing an underbelly of clumsiness and vulnerability.
