Transfers/ Displacement
I draw portraits of my fellow human beings and of myself and interpret how man has been portayed in past times and different places, as an icon, symbol or individual person. The work alternates between drawing and prints. The process involves continous exploration of the two media. I am a trained painter and the works have a basis in my identity as a painter.
The drawing/prints are designed in my Studio in Markveien and printed at Norwegian Printmakers Workshop and The Joint Workshop (Fellesverkstedet) in Oslo.

In my studio

In the studio, I prepare and draft the prints. There are drawings, gouaches, paper cutouts and collages. The preparatory works are part of a process and can as well result in a finished work. Its not always certain to determine when a work is finished. You must have an open mind. So in the studio you will see varying approaches to the same motif that I usually work with over a long period of time.

Planned projects and exhibitions

I am working on a project I call transfer / displacements. I have been working on that for several years. I don’t know where it will be shown yet. It is not the case that there are exhibition opportunities open that you just have to step into. It costs time and money to organize an exhibition. Time will tell. Fortunately, the artistic drive is rooted in something other than working towards concrete and measurable projects. I can point to a continuous artistic activity in constant development over 40 years thanks to this driving force which fortunately is independent of planning.
