Sarah Kazmi (b.1990 Pakistan, she/her) is an interdisciplinary artist and a writer, who lives and works between Oslo and Karachi (Pakistan). Her artistic practice moves across research and visual production, observing the relationship between food, language and politics; often based around/with communities and local environments. / She works with the medium of writing where her texts are visual, rhythmic and performative; often conveyed through a variety of disciplines, which includes sound pieces, video, installations and performance. Since 2021, she is also one of the active working group members of Verdensrommet, an artist-powered support network by and for non-EU/EEA creative professionals in Norway or (Alongside her artistic practice, Kazmi does policy advocacy for Verdensrommet; an artist-powered mutual support network by/for immigrant artists based in Norway.

Kazmi holds a master’s degree in Art and Public Space from Oslo National Academy of the Arts (KHiO, 2019), a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Indus Valley School of Art and Architecture (IVSAA, 2014), was participating artist at Coast Contemporary 2023 , worked on the editorial board for HUMAN International Documentary Film Festival. Her largest solo show will open at Oslo Intercultural Museum in April 2024, curated by Noor Bhangu, followed by performance in fall 2024, commissioned by V.O.L.T, in Bergen.

Planned projects and exhibitions

Solo exhibition with a public program titled “Cooking, Time?” curated by Noor Bhangu at Intercultural Museum. The exhibition opens on 18th April and will run until 6th August, 2024. https://www.oslomuseum.no/en/whats-on/vernissage-cooking-time/

Performance commissioned by V.O.L.T for fall 2024, to be performed in Bergen.
