The exhibition Above and Below was on view at the gallery space Kruttverket at Kroloftet, Arnljot Gellines Vei 41, from 22–24 April.
It featured the artists Ann Kristin Einarsen, Karen Klim, Lillian Tørlen, Martine Poppe, Mingshu Li, Olia Gorohova Rasmus Stride, and Silja Axelsen, all of whom participated in this year’s Oslo Open, in addition to photographer Pernille Sandberg.
The exhibition was curated by Lillian Ayla Ersoy and Hanna von Bergen, founders of Novooi, a new Norwegian platform for art, craft and design. For each artist in the exhibition, they produced an intimate interview, creating a sound portrait, put together with poetic portraits photographed by Pernille Sandberg.

Above and below the surface
In this exhibition digital NFTs and 3D fabrication are intertwined with contemporary art and craft. This phygital exhibition explores what lies above and below the surface of an artist’s creation. The artworks themselves represent the above, through organic shapes and dreamlike figures. The photo and sound portraits of each artist, guides the public below the surface, into their process and thoughts. As part of the exhibition, the public was also invited to visit the makers community of Kroloftet and see some of the artists’ studios.
