Kåre Bondesen is a painter and illustrator, born in Hammerfest in 1933. He was educated at the Norwegian National Academy of Craft and Art Industry in Oslo from 1951 to 1957. In the 1960s, he participated in Høstutstillingen and held a solo exhibition at Kunstnerforbundet. Later, he worked as a graphic designer and illustrator for Aftenposten.
In his paintings, Bondesen often returns to the coastal landscapes of Finnmark, to nature’s drama, crashing waves, and stormy skies. After a long break, he began painting again last summer. Since then, he has created new works in acrylic and watercolor. The images are often saturated with color and mood, especially blue. New figures can be glimpsed in some of the paintings, out in the elements or in more enigmatic poses.
