For the past 10 years I´ve worked on a project series called Staged Institutions.

Here I transform and stage the places I work with in order to introduce a different view, – of the building, the institution, the production structures in the art scene.

I have a background in performing arts, and have always worked with time, dramaturgy and various forms of presence. Throughout my artistic practice, I have investigated the relationship between what is staged, – and reality, looking for an aesthetic where the viewer needs to negotiate what they are witnessing, and by this becomes more present. This research led me to work site spesific, then context spesific, then institution spesific. This again led me to architectural installations, creating installations that appear permanent, and seamless with the context, so the distinction between artwork and institution becomes unclear. When even the institution is part of the site strategy, it opens up another layer to the reality research, where the institutional actions has fictional potential, or the institution´s identity is put into question. For me this uncertainty initiates a presence, just as working with the site does, without borders around the artwork it opens for a urgency.
