Through sculpture, installation and performance, I explore the dynamics between anxiety, nature and human vulnerability. I approach these topics through hosting or hospitality as a concept and metaphor to examine the relationship between order and chaos, power and care, where the host constantly negotiates its place between harmony and threat.

Through organic materials such as agar agar, mycelium and bioplastic, as well as cheese wax and reused objects, I create installations that explore the tension between nourishment and decomposition, where the viewer encounters both the recognizable and the uncanny – very much as the encounter with both nature and anxiety.

An abstract shape resembling an ornament, cast in agar agar and arranged in a row as a pattern. When the water evaporates, the castings shrink - either disappearing completely or leaving a trace.

Casting of an old box used to store small trinkets and other memorable objects. The box is cast in recycled cheese wax, which has collected small residues and dust over time. The original purpose of cheese wax is to protect cheeses from external hazards such as bacteria.

Plaster sculpture with an abstract, organic form placed on a spackled and dusty floor, with mycelium and fungus growing around it, creating a thin layer of mycelium and growth around the sculpture.

The hard candy were served on a platter molded in bioplastic, to visitors in connection with the Open Day at KHIO. At first I served the candy unprotected on the platter, but later in the evening as wrapped little gifts. The serving showed that people were much more willing to accept the candy when they were wrapped, while they reacted with skepticism and something closer to disgust when they were fresh and clean on the platter - ready to take.

In my studio

In my studio you will be welcomed into my exploration of the materials I work with in my practice – where they will be presented as an installation in progress.
There will also be a performative and edible work installed on the occasion of Oslo Open, which will achieve its full form as soon as it is eaten.
