In my paintings I explore the vulnerable human being’s encounter with its dark and destructive sides. The visible versus the invisible, man in nature and nature in man, the figurative versus the abstract.
I do not base my motifs on sketches, instead I allow the motif to emerge in the painting while I work — emerging like images in a dream. I let the paintings rest for long breaks (days, weeks and years), over time they develop into a finished image.
I am intrigued by the transparent effect of watercolor and want to transfer this to oil painting. I therefore work with thin coats of paint, a painting method in my vein. The images come into view on the canvas while I work.
