There is something unique and something universal in every human. It fascinates me how we look for human forms in abstractions and relate to shapes far removed from the realistic form. Body recognizes body. Humans create symbols and labels because of an innate need for simplification and categorization, to better understand and communicate our surroundings. With a more abstract symbolic representation of the human figure I wish for more of a recognition of the emotional state of the human experience. By creating my own visual vocabulary of symbols I’m exploring the endless possibilities of the body through clay.

2024 – See me make, make me see, collaborative writing project, with three Nordic craft schools; HDK-Valand – Academy of Art and Design (SE), KHiO – Oslo National Academy of the Arts (NO) and iohjiuhiu Aalto University (FI). lead by artist and senior lecturer at HDK Åsa Dybwad Norman, and lecturer, kjhukhjvj artist, writer and curator Ben Lignel (to be published in spring 2025).
