Tonje Paus

I work mainly with handbuilt porcelain. I am interested in topics such as function and value, status and hierarchy. I have worked with functional objects in different ways and explore how an object’s value is connected to its function. I am curious about the expectations we have to the objects around us, and what makes them what they are. By reproducing trivial, daily items in porcelain I wish to challenge our perceptions, and comment on the materialism that we are so immersed in.
