26—27 April

Yngvild Nergaard

(She/her)
Address: Studio 11, Sinsenveien 11, 0572 Oslo
Floor: 3.
The studio is open Saturday 26 April from 12-17

My artistic practice consists mainly of painting, but I also work with lightboxes and sculptural pieces. The relationship and contrast between manmade and nature is a recurring theme in my work. I seek out places like building sites and industrial areas where the tension between organic and synthetic is especially apparent. The objects, materials and shapes I see in these places find their way into my work, both figurative and as abstractions.

I’m also drawn to the kind of places you often see through a car window passing by the edge of a town or city. I am currently working on a series of paintings I’ve called Hinterland. Houses that seem deserted, often ghostly beige and gray, which make them almost invisible. But the buildings are not always empty, strange figures inhabit some of the paintings. Inspired by myths and folklore of creatures that are found close to the wilderness, these figures also represent a threshold between the manmade city and nature.

Painting

In my studio

In my studio you will be able to see paintings, big and small on canvas and board. I use both acrylic and oilpaint.

I also make lightboxes with plexiglass, paint, and mounted in different types of frames and boxes
