Christian Danielewitz is a Danish visual artist, researcher and writer based in Oslo. He received an MFA from the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in 2009 and a PhD in practice-based artistic research from the University of Copenhagen in 2022. His work revolves around extraction of raw materials, digital materialities, environmental crises, and the uneven global distribution of pollution and toxicity.

In my studio

I will show some works in progress as well as previous works, and introduce to my research. Coffee and tea will be served.

CV

Christian Danielewitz’ studied at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, earning an MFA in 2009, and was a post-graduate fellow at CCA – Center for Contemporary Art Research Program in Kitakyushu (JP) in 2009-2010. He was granted a Novo Nordisk PhD stipend in practice-based art research in 2018 and defended his PhD thesis “Hidden Flow: Artistic Research at the Frontlines of Extraction” at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in 2022.

Danielewitz’ has had solo exhibitions at Lusaka Contemporary Art Centre in Lusaka (2024), RAW Material Company – Center for Art, Knowledge and Society in Dakar (2019), 3331 Arts Chiyoda in Tokyo (2017) Galleri Format in Malmö (2017), Galleri Image in Århus (2016) and Black Sesame Space in Beijing (2016).

His work has been presented in group exhibitions at MMCA – National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art in Seoul (2023) He Art Museum in Foshan (2020), SAVVY Contemporary in Berlin (2019) Fotografisk Center in Copenhagen (2015), Tranen Space for Contemporary Art (2012), Den Frie – Centre of Contemporary Art in Copenhagen (2011), Gammel Strand in Copenhagen (2009), and Kunsthal Charlottenborg in Copenhagen (2006). He participated in Fotobiennalen 2016, and the Socle du Monde biennale 2010 at HEART – Herning Museum of Contemporary.

His work is in the collections of Lusaka Contemporary Art Centre (ZM), RAW Material Company – Center for Art, Knowledge and Society, Dakar (SN), The Danish Arts Foundation, and HEART – Herning Museum of Contemporary Art (DK).
