I have always worked with photography as a medium and have a desire for the art to be engaging and outward-looking. I want to create art that dares to address ethical and ideological issues. A common feature of my work is a desire to combine an idea-based art with an aesthetic attitude. My work is strongly influenced by my interest in sociological and anthropological issues and the projects often take the form of society-related investigations. Like anthropology, my working method is about seeing, interpreting, collecting, sorting and looking from the outside and inside at the same time. For me, photography and my work as an artist mean that I can go out into the world and ask the questions that bother me.
In my more recent projects, I have also directed my gaze towards photography itself and how this medium is inextricably linked to the material world, while at the same time there is always a transformation of some sort taking place.
I am currently working on two new projects: Debris and The Moral of Things. Debris (presented on this website) is an investigation of the materiality of the photographic negative and how it is connected to or detached from the objects that are photographed. I cut and create collages from “bad” negatives that I somehow can not trow away; – these can be images that have a bad composition, light leaks, are completely uninteresting as a photograph. I cut directly into the negatives and tape the pieces together before finally scanning them with a negative scanner.
The moral of things: Things are the opposite of nature. Where nature represents what is real and good; the thing is a representative of what is superficial, immoral and unnatural. This becomes even stronger when we know that it is things that are destroying the earth. Why do we still attach ourselves so strongly to things; even the useless, ugly or mass-produced objects? This ambivalence is what I want to look into more closely by isolating and bringing out the things that always create clutter, get stowed away, or give you a guilty conscience with their eternal reminder of overconsumption, poor design, uselessness, and transience.

In my studio
I will be hanging up pictures from the two projects I am currently working on: Bunnfall and Tingenes moral. In addition, there will be a sale of my photo book Born Free and free postcards to help yourself to. I am very happy to answer questions if you want to discuss what you see.
