I paint with silk paint, and thin acrylic with color pigments on plywood. The pattern in the wood can be part of the motifs, with transparent technique. Contrast and depth are made with opaque color pigments. In some paintings I use copper leaf sheets, which is enlivened by the pattern of the wooden board. I also use sanding techniques in paintings.
People, flora and color surfaces are my motifs. I am concerned with nature and man’s management of it. I look at the connection we share with nature, and would encourage us to reconnect with our roots, both figuratively and metaphorically. I want to illustrate the need for us to take nature seriously in our lives. for us to reflect on nature’s transformative power and the importance of trusting its cyclical rhythm.
