I work with textile dyes, painting and drawing. Through my work I investigate the relation between consciousness and subconsciousness, legacy and memory. In a current project I work with a series of textile paintings where I repeat an abstract, organic shape. The colour palette consists of deep, dark reds, blues and violet-blacks – colours which I associate with inner space.

My work is process-based. I respond to the materials` own “will” and reactions. And as I work with fluid colours, I play with the duality between control and coincidences. Throughout the work process I have a strong attention inward in myself. In this way I aim to tap into and feed my work with my own consciousness and subconsciousness.

Having a background as a psychologist, I hold a lifelong interest in the human psyche. In my art I continue this interest. I am particularly occupied with the eastern and western perspectives on what consciousness really is, and of how psyche, soma and life experiences are tied together.

In my studio

There are quite few artists in Norway who work with textile dyes and so-called discharge technique. In my studio I will show large-scale textile paintings created with the use of fluid colours and discharge.
