Anne Sophie Lorange is a Norwegian visual artist focusing on abstract painting, outdoor painting installations and drawings. Her research area is on the concept of “extended painting”. Her artistic practice explores the notion of belongingness linked to the environment and the ongoing climate crisis through an expanded painting practice. She draws inspiration from the process of wandering in nature in specific areas that connects her to a notion of belongingness and of memory. This may be along the South Coast of Norway ( a childhood area) , in the old forest in Oslo, and various mountain areas- all areas that are intimately connected to the artist. Anne Sophie has a bilingual background- born and grew up in the US, and moved to Norway in her teens. She is now currently a PhD researcher in artistic research at Liverpool John Moores University, UK and in collaboration with Transart Institute, NY.
