Starting point for my paintings is often an idea/story. The challenge is to “translate” it to figurative language. I start with sketching in black/white and colour. Next step is on canvas. First I use tempera painting. It dries fast and easily lets you make changes. At last oil panting for the final result.
Someone has said about my paintings: “The paintings of Anna Lindblad are obviously decorative at first sight, but by closer sight you will find a bitter underline ….”

Painting

In the center an elegant woman, the mother, with a wineglass in her hand. In the background two young women, the daughters, holding up the mother with big bicycle pumps.

A postcard and three small paintings put together as a serie. the postcard shows a scene with an elegant woman, the mother, and behind her two young women, the daughters, pumping up the mother with big bicycle pumps. Painting 1: The daughters drops the pumps and the mother starts to sank. Painting 2: The daughters see terrified that the mother has become completely flat. Painting 3: the mother rises up, angry, and the daughters leaves the scene.
Mother and daughters - What happened?, Anna Lindblad, tempera/oil, 58x75, 2022
A big tree growing up on our planet. In the tree are five people and they react differently on what is going on on the surface of the earth with too much water and too much heat. One is calmly looking down on the earth, one is terrified, one looking out afraid from behind the tree trunk, one has given up and one is just enjoying lying on a branch high up.
