About Øy
Scenekunstkompaniet Øy was founded in 2014 by director and theater artist Ellen Jerstad. The company focuses on creating interdisciplinary and site-specific performances that explore the interplay between humans, ecology, and society. Øy serves as a metaphorical "island"—a utopian space where art becomes a platform for dialogue, innovation, and engagement.
Øy’s artistic work blends visual and performative expressions with interactive formats, inviting audiences to actively participate in the performances. With a strong foundation in sustainability and mythology, the company’s projects often explore radical visions of community and the complexity of ecosystems. Through collaborations with various artists, researchers, and community partners, Øy has established itself as an innovative player in the Norwegian performing arts scene.
