Floor: 2
The studio is open Saturday 26 April from 12-17
I work with textiles, performance and sculpture.
I use the word “Kime” to describe the power I have in my body, which consists of the strong and the vulnerable. I need the weak to be the strong. In the works, I seek a balance between these two. I find that when I struggle with something very heavy; Like a large bundle of textiles or when I throw up 80 meters of silk in the wind. Then I feel that the movements come together as one force. I become alert to sounds, smells and I look at plants, flowers and trees with a more thorough calm. This need has meant that I always carry a piece of silk in my backpack ready for a spontaneous performance. See the project “A room without a door” at: https://www.instagram.com/greteriseng2/

In my studio
During Oslo Open, I will work in the studio as I usually do; I will show (and at the same time practically do) how I make sculptures of silk, I will have an ongoing dye bath going on where I show different techniques for how to process the silk with plant material from the places I have had outdoor performances.
Planned projects and exhibitions
Own initiated and ongoing project; “A room without a door”.
The project consists of daily outdoor work with performance, movements and textiles where I use my body to investigate how the textile and I are affected by the work outside. What happens through many years of outdoor work with the textiles, the body’s movements and will it affect how I relate to the world? At the same time as this project, I am working on the publication of a book with the same title.
In the summer of 2025, I participate in a performance made by the artist Silje Kjørholt at the Center for Ceramic Art in Ringebu.
In the spring semester of 2025, I have a temporary position at the Oslo National Academy of the Arts.

Guidance and proofreading by Markus Brendmoe and Roar Werner Eriksen.
The guidance from Brendmoe/Werner Eriksen (Andreas Siqueland took over after Werner Eriksen’s death in 2017) was a weekly guide. I have benefited from this correction, guidance, conversations and artistic motivation for 10 years. Brendmoe is highly skilled as a guide and conversation partner in contemporary art. He knows how to value our independent expression and at the same time pull in a direction where we are constantly developing our artistic potential. Much of my artistic courage comes from Brendmoe.
