Trine Lindheim lives and works in one of the artists’ residences at Ekely in Oslo.
She is educated at the Norwegian National Academy of Fine Arts in Oslo, Trondheim Academy of Fine Art, and additional Pedagogical education for artists at Oslo University College.
Trine Lindheim cultivates the art of limitation, without denying freedom. Lushness and simplification are keywords for a diversity of styles and techniques, where the artist utilises materials and natural processes in her own way. This applies both to painting, graphics and various other objects.
In her paintings, Trine works in a borderland between abstraction and figuration that
can be read as outer and inner landscapes with contrasts between light and shadow, warmth and cold and storm and calm.
In the woodcuts, she works in an abstracted/figurative design language where the wood’s annual growth rings and textures become part of the pictorial composition. The woodcuts are printed in layers so that colours and lines shine through to each other. The images are created through a purification process with reduction and simplification of form as a result. A backdrop for many of the images is our blind dealings with our planet’s vulnerable life on land, sea and in the air.
Motifs revolve poetically around the beauty and fragility of life. Several nature motifs can also be read as psychological processes and existential dilemmas.
