Stene, Maiken

Maleri, installasjon, video

Curatorial/organizational work:

General: I run the Welfare Studio and Gallery; a 50´s ballroom in a closed down mining area in Southwestern Norway. Here I work with my own art and organize exhibitions, residencies, concerts and dialogues related to the local mining history, geology, tourism and contemporary art.

Aug – Sep 2015 I invited 10 swedish and norwegian artists to spend 2,5 weeks at the Welfare. I worked as organizer, curator and administrator for the project which had a budget of NOK 300.000,-.
We arranged an Open Day where the artists showed performances, installations, videos and workshops for approximately 150 visitors. We cooperated with Rogaland Kunstsenter and finished off the project with artist presentations in their space in Stavanger.

Aug – Sep 2014 I produced Glasmo 2014, an exchange project between 12 recently graduated artists from Malmø Art Academy and Glasgow School of Art. The project included an exhibition curated by Nico Anklam, and a series of workshops, presentations and walkthroughs of the exhibition.

Oct 2013 Curator of “The Construction and Fluctuation of the Artifice and the Real” with Søren Aagard and Bjarni Tor Petursson and me.
The show was guested by Paracit; an experimental performance by Robert Bolin and myself, where the fictional art collector Jonas Falke guided the audience through a recontextualization of the show.

Aug 2013 Curator of Sayko by Aleksander Johan Andreassen,
The Welfare Studio and Gallery, Sokndal, NO
