Runa Sandnes

I work with mirrors, and remove the mirror from the mirror so that there are both glass and mirror in the same surface.

The mirror is one of the most worn symbols in the history of art and literature.

A novel is a mirror that is carried along the road, Stendahl writes. He wants us to see the world as it is. But what does that mean? How are we to understand the metaphor?

To what extent can one shape the world using a flat glass surface with a metallized backing?

Looking at the world – does that mean you understand it?

I remove the mirror from the mirror. So that the assemblies of mirrors reflect foreground, background and mirrors in mirrors.

The viewer can look at the work, oneself and the surroundings at the same time and become part of a complex network; a metaphor of how the world is intertwined.
