Buhagen, Petter

Mixed media

My works can be seen as a series of fragments that seeks to make physical, stripped-down interpretations of the overwhelming impalpability that defines the development of our contemporary culture and communication. In my practice traditional materials and ways of presentation are juxtaposed with subject matter and technological tools to create multi-layered pieces. By frequently passing the material between digital and analogue platforms throughout the process, the works become allegories of exchange of information in general, where misinterpretations distort and reshape the original message. With references to modernist abstraction and conceptual art the works might seem conventional at first glance, but when you pay attention to the details like the combination and particularity of the materials, techniques, dimensions and titles the pieces surpass a merely visual experience and address complex topics of our present.
