Øksendal, Kristine

Painting, video, printmaking and sculpture

In my latest paintings I try to create a sense of shift in balance and illusion of movement. Contrasting colours create a dynamic visual experience indicating space and kinetic energy, allowing for the viewers own interpretation. I’m also exploring memory and vision in relation to gesture. I want my work to be intuitive, intimate and subjective. I´m interested in the way fluid movement and visual impressions can transform into solid materiality. My work-process is intuitive and improvised, structured by repeated gestures. Interdisciplinary, but always based on issues within painting. As a painter I work within the abstract expressionist tradition, with my own life and subjectivity as the starting point for every new project.
