Strand, Randi

Artists books, jigsaw, installation, printmaking

I explore elementes like language, signs and sensory experiences, mainly in books, but also in other techniques and media. The tactile aspect is of great importance, thus the format and use of material have been pushed in order to break an automated act of reading.
In my last project, which consists of a book and works made with a jigsaw, I use biographical material to make a portrait of a near past. The life that is drawn is very different from now and looks at our way of life, the use of land and self-sufficiency in a critical way.
