Walton Herfindal, Lena
Lena Walton Herfindal works with organic, intuitive and abstract drawing in different materials.
Degeneracy and bodily decline are topics that go on in her art. Herfindal is concerned with the body’s colors, shapes and structures both on the outside and inside but without regard to its realistic anatomical appearance. Moreover, nature’s joints have become inspiration behind her work.
In the art she takes various materials such as paper plastic porcelain and metal.
The different properties of the materials help her describe a feeling.
The work is often process-based and consists of many different parts that eventually develop into larger sculptural works. Repeating in her work is the organic signage that manifests itself in the different materials.
She creates spatial structures by linking her work to each other and working with contrasts in size and shape. Herfindal is concerned with the romantic presentation of what we are composed of and how rhythms, colors and shapes are connected.
