Aamodt, Nicolay

Painting, drawing, collage

My artistic research explores the painter-technical and craftsmanship that has always been an underlying driving force in my work. Earlier it has been primarily painting but for the last five years I have been working on exploring materials and new techniques; work on paper, canvas, cardboard, collage and assembly techniques and metal and wood constructions. Processually, unnecessary elements in one work can be removed and become part of the structure of another. My work is in the border between sculpture and painting and it is figurative and non figurative. Tactility in the work as well as composition are important factors for the final result.
