Wisløff, Isak

sculpture

I see sculptures as objects. Things formed to serve a practical function is often understood as commodities and a part of the daily life-consumer culture. Such objects is the fundament and starting point when I work with sculptures. My experience and background as a furniture designer affect my artistic research and intention. By using methods from the practice of design I try to implement forms that indicate a function in my sculptures. Through this I am trying to explore the relationship between an object and a sculpture independent from context, but through the thing in itself. By working logical an rational with irrational combinations of different forms and materials a hybrid between an object and a sculpture appears.
