Brinch, Maria

Textiles, tapestries, sculptures, paintings, jewlery

Maria Brinch’s interest in long lasting cultural exchange, are being practiced in collaboration with smaller communities in both Yangon (Myanmar) and Kampala (Uganda), where the social aspect of doing crafts opens up a space for sharing political experiences and contemporary story tellings – beyond the art scene and its discourse.
Brinch’s work, with their painterly qualities connect to both classic decorative textile and our contemporary digital recordings of lived lives, and are steeped out from a critical exploring of the different dimensions of meaning in a folded material, both materially and emotionally.
