Espelien, Sigrid

Sigrid Espelien works in ceramics, drawing and events in her artistic practice. In her long-term project Bjørvikaclay: Research from a Ceramic Artist´s Perspective, she uses local clay as a starting point for artistic research about the fastest growing city area in Oslo. Her biggest motivation for working in clay rises from its´ overlap and meeting with other fields like archaeology, geology, city development, architecture and industry.
Sigrid has a ceramic craft education from the Glass- and Ceramics School on Bornholm in Denmark and a Master in fine art and ceramics from Cranbrook Academy of Art in Michigan, USA.
