Aamodt, Nicolay

Painting, collage, drawing

Painting techniques and craftsmanship has always been an underlying driving force in my work. Earlier it was primarily painting but over the last five years I have been working on exploring materials and new techniques; work on paper, canvas and cardboard, collage- and assembly techniques and structures with metal and wood. Processually, unnecessary elements in one work can be removed and become part of the structure of another. My works are often on the border between sculpture and painting and between the figurative and non figurative. Tactility in the work as well as composition are important factors for the final result.
