Mæhlum, Ellen Karin

Graphic Art / Printmaking

The motives in my works are mainly based on photos from hikes, fieldwork and research expeditions I have participated in on Svalbard (in the Arctic) since 2001. Each project consists of works grouped around a theme, a format and a graphical technique. A common thread in the different series is a strong interest in nature and an exploratory approach to graphic’s technical aspects. In my work I try to interpret impressions and observations derived from the interaction between art, science and nature. My intention is to arouse wonder and reflect on our understanding and perception of nature and how we relate.
