Larsmon, Anne Guro

skulptur

My work is mostly based on analytical research, ideas and content derived from a scientific view, the thinkers of enlightenment, mythological and cinematographic heritage. Though the aesthetic of my work often resembles the dogmas of minimalism, I’m not interested in the unmediated sculpture, but rather the perception of scientific concepts and cultural meanings. The work deals with the language of place and location, concepts informed by movement and time and the space that is set against objects as it exist outside of time. I frequently use steel in my sculptures, but concurrently juxtaposing this heavy material with fragile, fleeting materials such as resin, scent, glass, light, seaweed and lava. Steel has the quality of the monumental, but in my welding process joining fragments together is also connected with failure and collapse. Glass has the same potential, and both materials hold the qualities of the time-based, gestural and temporal movement.
